Project overview: Tomahawk Steakhouse began as a full branding design exercise to re-brand 'The Dog & Gun' country pub in the remote village of Potto in North Yorkshire. The design of the restaurant logo mark centres around the core product, which is primarily Himalayan salt dry-aged steaks and beef dishes. The silhouette of the cattle surrounded by the strapline encompasses the type mark perfectly, creating a stamp that is clearly defined for use in its own right, and will also become a recognisable icon for the developing business, as more restaurant venues are introduced.
The logo mark design elements were developed to work across a full suite of restaurant menus, digital website presence, social media promotions, email campaigns and printed advertisements. A wide colour palette was created to give flexibility for the brand’s usage, to enable it to be used successfully across a wide variety of media and situations.
Since the restaurant at Potto was opened, there have been four other venues established across the North of England, with more in the pipeline. All branding work displayed below was created up to January 2019 when the project was taken in-house with a larger team handling the additional venues themselves. Additional support from Happyleaves is provided to the client as required.
Design tasks: logo mark and brand design, mobile responsive website, full menus design, signage, point-of-sale, colour and typeface selection, microbrewery beer flavour naming, and hand-pull draft label design, email marketing campaign template design, gift cards and beef guide booklet.
